Snow Has Finally Arrived in Summit County — Ski Season is ON!
After weeks of anticipation, winter has officially returned to Summit County! Fresh snow has blanketed the mountains, the temperatures have dropped into that perfect crisp-winter range. The stoke level across the county is sky-high! Whether you’ve been refreshing the forecast every hour or doing your own personal snow dance, the wait is finally over — ski season is here.
And speaking of snow dances… locals know exactly who to thank when the flakes start flying: Ullr, the Norse god of snow and patron saint of powder lovers. Every year, Summit County residents and visitors alike call on Ullr to bless the mountains with an abundant winter. If the recent storms are any sign, he’s heard us loud and clear.

Ullr Fest – Coming this December 18th-20th in Breckenridge
If you’ve never experienced Ullr Fest in Breckenridge, you’re missing one of the most unique and spirited winter celebrations in the Rockies. This legendary festival is part winter carnival, part Viking celebration, and 100% Summit County fun. Locals don their finest Viking helmets, join the iconic Main Street parade, attempt the world’s longest Shot Ski, and gather around the giant Ullr bonfire to pay tribute to the snow god himself.
It’s all done in the hope of encouraging Ullr to keep the snow coming — and judging by this week’s forecast, it’s working!
